Friday Fun Day!
Next fall, we are going to establish a tradition of Friday fun. We can do regular school Monday-Thursday, but Fridays will be our fun day. What will our Fridays look like? Well, for example, instead of doing our math book, we will play math games. Instead of reading history, we'll put together our Geo-puzzles. Maybe we'll watch a science video or play an educational game on the computer. We'll do our handicraft on this day hopefully too.
Fridays will also be our field trip day! I'm hoping to do at least one outing a month to somewhere special. (This will be in addition to our weekly nature walks). We have a couple of museum memberships, but I keep finding out about cool things in and around Seattle. Like I had done with the Natural Recipes, I wanted to have place where I could go and look at all of them in one handy place. Now great websites like Red Tricycle have already done a great job of listing some awesome places and things to do with your kids. I'm in their debt for all of their resources. However, this time a list wasn't enough for me. I knew that I'd forget about some of the cool things when it came for us to do them. So, what did I do? I put them in a spreadsheet of course!
I wanted to be able to search for cool places to go by theme, cost, location, type, age range, etc. and I couldn't do this by just looking at some list. My spreadsheet did this for me. I hope that it can do the same for you.
If you click on the above image, it will take you to my Google Drive Spreadsheet. You can then download it to your own computer if you want to do your own data sort based on location, cost, etc. You can also just view it as is. I currently have it sorted by theme and type.
I have about 100 places on there now, and I plan to continue to update the sheet as I go along. If you think that I've missed some place, please feel free to leave a comment, and I'll try to update it. Or, if you find a bad website link, I'd love to know that as well. Thanks!

A friend reminded me that you can also get free museum passes from your local library. http://www.spl.org/library-collection/museum-pass or http://www.kcls.org/programs/museumpasses.cfm
